Madeline got onto a hugeeee redfish. She had never seen anything like it. Way to go!
Had two great clients on the boat today that have fished all over the world together. One took a breather from throwing the topwater and sat down for a minute. I started making a few casts with his rod and had a redfish blow up in this shallow pocket, but miss the hook. The other guy said, “Well, he’s gone now.”
I said, “I bet ya a dollar he’ll hit again” , he said “Deal”.
I made a few casts with no luck but then saw the fish make a swirl. I said to Jim (bet maker) to make a cast up in there and hook him. He jokingly said, “No way, I get guides telling me all the time what to do to catch a fish, but I want a demonstration! You get five more casts.”
First cast…Wham. 26″ redfish.
Here’s my dollar from Jim.
I will let the pictures speak for themselves…
Had a couple great trips in the last week. The reds have really started grouping up in their summer shallow spots and been tailing like crazy. Even got my parents out on Easter and caught 3 10lb fish in the first 15 minutes. Also went out with Capt Tucker Blythe and caught some false albacore on light tackle. Great days and Im sooooo glad summer is here.
Theres been some nice big redfish out lately. Been catching a lot of 30″+ reds. Thanks to Haddrell’s Point Tackle for the seminar I put on the other night! See you on the water…
Capt. Lawton and I fished the IFA Redfish tour and finished top 20 weighing in 2 fish. NC, here we come!
Christina and I went down to Mosquito Lagoon for East Cape’s meet and greet. It was awesome to see a bunch of different boats together.
Ross and I got out for some winter-time redfish action. We stayed shallow and caught some nice fish. Two hit a suspending twitch bait. Also had fish on weedless grubs, gulps, and a big powerbait. Fishing in Charleston in February in all its finest.
Im working on making this easiest way to see photos and updates. If the formatting gets screwy, just let me know.
